This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our little ears need stories to listen to at our new listening center! We have a very limited listening center library--please help us expand it!

This is a group of 21 fun, bright, kind, and creative kindergarteners.

They attend a Title I K-7th span school in an urban setting. All of my students come from disadvantaged socioeconomic families and English is a second language for them as well. They are extremely intelligent and are already reading and writing. They make their teacher proud!

My Project

I am requesting read-along stories and CDs to use with our new listening center. We currently have a limited listening center library with only a couple of stories on CD and the rest are on cassettes! All students visit the listening center weekly and we need new stories to build our library so that students continue to be motivated by their visits to this wonderful center. Following along in the book while they listen to the story helps students improve fluency, vocabulary, and overall comprehension. They also enjoy being read to, even if it's a recording. Listening to the stories teaches students to read with proper tone and expression. This center truly offers students a wonderful learning opportunity.
