My Students

Do you remember discovering a favorite book and wanting your mother to read it to you over and over again?

My students all come from households where they speak another language.

They are all eager to learn and love listening to their favorite stories. All of my students are at different levels in their reading development. Many times their only opportunity to listen to the rich language found in children's literature is at school.

My Project

Providing students with four individual CD players allows them to listen to a story that they can comprehend. First graders LOVE when they are given a chance to truly be independent and not have to rely on anyone else, even a classmate! Not only will these four CD players and read along stories provide more chances for students to hear good literature, but they will make them feel like big kids.

This project will greatly impact my students.

It will help all of them, even my lowest readers, feel successful. Once a child feels successful at reading, nothing will stop them from getting better and achieving their goals!
