This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember using the listening center to read along with your favorite story? My listening center has become very popular but I need more books for them to read along with. Most of these children have never been read to at home and the listening center is helping me to fill that void.

I have two half day pre-k classes with a total of 48 children.

These children are English as a second language learners. They are all on the free lunch program and they come from one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city. These children love to come to school and learn. I have a great attendance rate. I have 4 children over the limit in each class and I do not have an aid.

My Project

I am requesting read along books with audio cds for my listening center. My listening center has become very popular but I have only four different titles. I would love to be able to change the books out more often. Young children love to hear the same story over and over and the listening center helps the children do that.

Learning to read is the most important skill children will ever learn in school.

The listening center and the read along books with the audio cds will help these children learn to read.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
