My Students

Ralph Nichols stated that "The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them." Help my students hone in on this skill by listening to some of the novels that we read!

I have a wonderful group of students who are used to having hand-me-downs and used or limited school supplies.

Many of them get their entire education and exposure to new ideas at school. They are bright and eager to learn about new things. They just need the opportunity to be able to do so.

My Project

My students need a listening center for novel reading and Holes and Maniac Magee Read Alongs. Read-Aloud is one of my students favorite part of the day. We read many novels and do a lot of center based work around each novel. I would love to add a listening center to the work that we do. This would help during center time. I work hard to increase the listening skills of my students and this center would be a great aide in doing so.

Listening and literacy is such an important of our everyday lives.

This listening center will help my students and I link the two. They will not only be able to read wonderful novels, they will be able to have something to listen to while they read along.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
