Listen To Reading - Reading Independence

My students need an e-reader for their listening station in class.

My Students

One of my favorite things to do as a child was to listen to books on tape. They inspired me to read more, excited me about story telling, enabled my imagination to run wild, and made it easier to share adventures with my bother and sister.

My students are a wonderful group of children who enjoy learning, laughing, and being together.

I am rarely met with personal conflicts between students or have conduct problems in class. I feel blessed to work with such a positive group of students in a supportive community.

My Project

My classroom is lacking audio books for our listening station. Being a fan of electronics and technology, I wanted to step forward and not backward when it came to audio books. I concluded that an eBook reader would be a wonderful resource for the students to use in a listening station. The Nook by Barnes and Noble will provide a rich listening experience for all of my students. While it is important to read, listening to reading will increase their listening vocabulary and enable them to think about what they are hearing. It also models what fluent reading sounds like, and aides in their expression and intonation.

I feel that the Nook would be a wonderful resource for the class.

It will expose my students to the latest technology and give them endless amounts of resources at the tips of their fingers. In addition to that, having an attractive electronic reader might be that one spark I need to motivate my reluctant readers to try harder. Thanks in advance for any and all support in helping my classroom achieve this goal.
