My students need a listening center, books with CDs, and 6 special seats to go along with the listening center so they can improve their literacy skills.

My Students

In my second grade classroom, every day is an opportunity to learn something new! I want my students to love what they are learning so I try to make everything we learn connect to their lives - and have meaning. We work hard each day, and we also have fun while we do it!

My second graders love to learn!

They are eager each morning to come in and read, write, and learn something new! In our class, we have many diverse cultures and we speak 11 different languages (and there are only 21 students)! Many of my students are second language learners with little support from home, due to language barriers. It is so exciting to watch them grow and learn as readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists (just to name a few) each and every day!

My Project

My second graders LOVE to listen to stories. I read to them every day in class, but that isn't always enough, especially for some of my second language learners. I would love to have a listening center for them to use during small group instruction and when they finish their work early. It would be ideal to have some special seats for listening to books on CD, as well as more books on CD to add to the collection I've started. "You can find MAGIC wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book!" ~ Dr. Seuss

Donating to this project will provide our classroom with a technology resource to foster early literacy and improve reading skills.

I love, love, love reading and I want my students to be exposed to as much good, fluent reading as possible to instill a lifelong love for reading - and learning. I know that listening while reading along with a good book has improved my second graders' literacy skills by leaps and bounds already this year - and I hope to continue this for them!
