Thanks to you, our classroom has been transformed into a vibrant, hands-on learning environment where curiosity \"blooms\" alongside our plants.\r\n\r\nThe moment our students saw the new garden materials, their faces lit up with excitement and wonder. They started engaging as they helped to build the planters, fill them with soil and plant a variety of seeds/plants. From planting seeds to watering and watching sprouts emerge, our students are learning about life cycles, responsibility, and the magic of nature.\r\n\r\nThroughout the spring & summer, and even into early fall, we have been able to watch our tomatoes, beans, strawberries, corn, mint, and carrots grow. Each day, the children look for new veggies and fruit and are so excited when we get to harvest and eat our food. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're integrating the garden into our fall curriculum. Our next steps include a fall planting day with families. Families are going to come and help us plant our bulbs for a burst of spring flowers. Thanks to your support, our preschoolers now have a beautiful new rocking boat and stairs set, and it has quickly become a favorite part of our learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe moment the children saw the new materials, their faces lit up with pure joy and curiosity. They immediately began exploring the rocking boat—some pretending it was a ship sailing across the ocean with their friends. The stairs have become a wonderful tool for practicing gross motor skills, and the children love climbing, balancing, and even turning it into imaginative play scenarios like castles and mountains.\r\nOne particularly special moment happened during our end of year ceremony. Each child was able to use the stairs to climb to the top and receive their classroom community award. They loved it!\r\nAs we continue our exploration of movement and spatial awareness, the next steps involve integrating the rocking boat and stairs into our sensory and dramatic play centers. We're also planning a unit on transportation, where the boat will play a central role in helping students understand different modes of travel through hands-on experiences.\r\nYour support has truly brought our classroom to life in new and exciting ways. Because of the Donors Choose donations they were able to pour over the variety of books and really find someone interesting to them that they wanted to learn more about. Once they chose their person they used their book(s) to find answers to questions about their chosen person's life and the contributions they made to society. My second graders learned to take notes and how to dig deeper for more information if they couldn't easily find the information they needed.\r\n\r\nAfter completing their research each student chose three facts that they thought were the most interesting about their person. They then wrote these into a script to recite at the Wax Museum, where they got to dress up and choose accessories that would show what their person looked like. We invited family, staff, and other students to attend our Wax Museum, so they could press a \"dot\" on a students' hand and that person would come to life for them and recite some facts about their life.\r\n\r\nThis turned out to be a fantastic project...all because of your donation to buy many biography books for our class! It's big and colorful and so inviting for our students. \r\nOur preschool motor room is continuing to grow. Although we are able to store music on the iPad that helps with the pacing of our group music time, the main reason for the iPad in the classroom is to help our students (3-5 year old's with and without special needs) to document their learning. \r\nChildren are presented each day with \"I can\" statements, as well as many, many other learning opportunities. Prior to having the iPad, I used my phone's camera to document their learning through notetaking, photos, and videos. Children were always interested in seeing what we were documenting. Now, with our iPad, children have taken ownership of their own learning in the classroom. Using some simple visuals, children are able to use the iPad to take photos and videos of their own learning in the classroom, making decisions about what they've learned in the classroom. This has increased our students engagement and on-task behaviors by more than 50%!\r\nOur Tiny Techies project has ensured that learning occurs for each student and they are able to show others (peers and family) what they are learning.
