My students need human body system models and a butterfly pavilion to improve their study of living things.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Hughes's classroom raised $209

My Students
A typical day in my classroom includes 100 7th graders coming and going. They often want to know do they get take something apart or watch something grow. Sadly, I teach Life Science and we have no human body system models or a butterfly pavilion for them to watch the metamorphosis of a butterfly.
My students are excited about being in a classroom that looks lab, we just don't have any lab materials!
The students want to observe nature and get their hands on realistic models. Several of my kids asked would they get to see a butterfly hatch this year. The school that I teach at is a high-poverty school in a state that has suffered from the recession. The supplies that I truly need to teach Life Science well are not available with district funding. I want to help my students get the resources they need to successfully learn about living things, including their own body systems.
My Project
My students will use the butterfly pavilion to observe the stages of complete metamorphosis. They will be able to study butterflies in our classroom and the pavilion that I have requested will be in use for years to come. The body systems chart that I have requested is interactive and provides information about each of the primary human body systems. The chart is flexible and can be placed in areas with limited space for multiple students to use. The body system model in the supply request will allow the students to manipulate organs and discover how they work together to sustain life.
Donations to this project will improve opportunities for my students to understand Life Science content in greater depth.
It will provide resources that we can't get otherwise. These resources will make Life Science come alive for the students!
