My Students

I'm in the dog house with parents. My art classes are slowly but surely ruining school uniforms. I am caught in between the desire to do awesome, messy, and authentic art projects with students at the risk of ruining clean white uniforms. Help me keep art messy!

My students are 320 preschool through fifth graders.

No matter their age, all of them are silly, messy, adventurous, and not at all concerned with the headache of laundry day. These are fearless, carefree, elementary aged students and I'd like to keep them that way!

My Project

I would like to cut the families of my students a break this year by stocking the studio with racks of full coverage, long-sleeved, vinyl smocks for our early childhood artists and adult-style, vinyl aprons for our older, more theoretically, clean minded students.

This project may not be as glamorous as other projects out there, but it is just as important.

Without these smocks, my students will not be able to execute the more glamorous projects with as much freedom and risk taking as true art making requires.
