My Students

Do you remember how exciting it was as a child to go to the library and pick out a book on your own? It was even more exciting when you were actually be able to read that book. I wish for my students to experience that same excitement when choosing books from their own classroom library.

Currently, I am teaching 1st grade but will loop with this class to 2nd grade.

My class consists of both general and special education students who are working hard to build a solid reading foundation. Most students are reading below grade level. My students have a passion for reading, however our current classroom library is lacking quality level appropriate books.

My Project

This project will provide my class with a leveled library. A leveled library will provide appropriate reading material for my students. I wish for my students to experience success and triumph when reading independently and with a buddy. My students are eager to read, but do not have access to level appropriate books in our current classroom library. Having this leveled library will help them choose appropriately and not become too frustrated or bored with reading.

I believe creating a strong literacy background early on will create an overall strong student.

Receiving these leveled library materials will help to develop a love for reading in my students. The power to read will open up so many doors for all my students!
