This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It is essential for students to read often to become better readers.
My inspiring third graders live in a high poverty area located in East Harlem, New York.
Many of them reside in temporary housing shelters. They are eager learners and enjoy coming to school everyday. They enjoy reading, listening to stories and playing with their friends.
My Project
I want to create a literacy environment full of reading materials. I am in need of books that are leveled which are also called "just right" books which are readable by the student according to the reading stage they are in. I am requesting nonfiction and fiction books.
Having an abundance of leveled books enables the student to have more reading practice.
The more practice a reader gets the better reader they become. I need my students to be fluent, avid readers.
