Mr. Lamy from Manchester NH is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Let's Teach More Students About Electronics!

My students need two Snap Circuits 750 Kits to understand how electronic circuits are designed and why they are such an important part of our day-to-day technology.

My Students

One of the high points of my job is helping students foster their curiosity about technology. I have witnessed that process of intellectual discovery in teaching our school's Snap Circuits class, and I want to provide more of our students with the opportunity to explore and understand electronics.

Our students have a wonderful sense of inquisitiveness about the world and how things work.

They are adept users of technology, and this technology has become a normal part of their daily lives. At the same time, they are very eager to explore deeper questions about technology, including how and why computers and electronic devices are able to do such wonderful things. I want to tap into that curiosity, and do all I can to help encourage that interest.

My Project

The students in our Technology Club are fascinated by what they have learned about how circuits function and what they can create with the Snap Circuits kits. However, this experience can be a struggle because we have a large number of students experimenting with each of these kits at the same time. While collaborative learning experiences like this can be positive, working in such large groups does not provide the personal, hands-on experimental learning experience that can help students better understand the concepts being taught. By purchasing two additional Snap Circuits kits, the students will be able to conduct the hands on experiments in smaller groups, and in so doing will better develop their understanding of electronics as well as their critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.

The role that technology plays in our lives is truly amazing, and it is intriguing to consider what technologies lie ahead.

Projects such as this teach students how electronic components combine to perform specific tasks, will increase their higher order thinking and learning, and may very well lead some of our students to important careers in science, engineering, and technology.
