My Students
Rrrrriiiinnnnnggggg! It's recess...one of the most popular times of day. Do you remember racing to the playground to play tag, climb across the monkey bars, or grab a ball?
There are approximately 80 elementary students in preschool through fifth grade.
Most students live in nearby small towns and on farms scattered throughout the county. After arriving at the preschool through twelfth grade facility from a long bus ride, students gather in the commons area for breakfast and then scurry off to various classroom for a day full of learning. Several times throughout the day, energetic and enthusiastic students rush out the doors of the building to the playground behind the school for recess.
My Project
While some students gravitate towards the jungle gym with two attached slides or the swings along the fence line, many others grab a ball or other small piece of equipment. Preschool through fifth grade students will be able to choose from a large variety of balls at recess including basketballs, playground balls, soccer balls, footballs, and slomo bump balls. Students will also be able to use hula hoops and ball hops (skip-its). Students will find a piece of equipment that is fun and engaging whether playing by themselves, with a friend, or as part of a large group at recess.
Your donation will expand the selection of age and size appropriate small equipment available to students at recess.
Students will be able to dribble a basketball across the basketball court, toss around a slomo bump ball fearlessly with a friend, or kick a goal on the soccer field. Students will also be able to twist a hula hoop around their waist or hop across the playground with a ball hop (skip-it).
