Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Everyone loves recess! But imagine, if your play is limited due to the lack of equipment. For many of my students, the school's playground is the only area which they can play in because their homes may have little or limited space for outdoor play.
My kids are happy and fun loving five and six year olds with vivid imaginations and a burst of energy.
They love to be outdoors and enjoy running, building, and helping to keep our playground clean. They are curious about the world around them and are eager to learn.
My Project
Currently, our playground is used by 80 children. We have a set of swings, a jungle gym and a few bikes. The giant pipe builders, swing and catch cups, balancing ball game, and additional playground equipment would allow students to play at different stations around the playground. Students could strengthen their balance, hand eye coordination, and communication skills while using the new equipment. The additional resources would allow us to rotate the items as needed. Students would no longer have to "fight" over equipment because there would be more choices. While playing, our students would learn about teamwork, cooperation, and creativity.
Play is an important part of a child's development.
Play fosters learning. It is essential for a child's cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well being. More importantly, play is fun!
