Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Children are learning at a different pace today than children did when I was in Kindergarten, yet the classroom environment seems same. There is something very wrong with this. My students do go to our school's computer lab once a week for 30 minutes but that is not enough!

My class is a Kindergarten/First Grade combination class in a low socio-economic school.

Our school is a Title I school with 65% of its population on free or reduced lunch. Each of my students is an intricate piece of an amazingly diverse puzzle. Not only are the majority of my students learning to read, write and do arithmetic but some are also English Language Learners and students with Special Needs. All the parents in my class want the best education for their child and they try to do the best they can. All of my students are highly motivated to learn no matter what challenges they face at home or in their community.

My Project

Reading is fun when students can view it as a learning game rather than tedious work. I plan on using this Acer tablet for group time. It will teach the children to use tablet independently. They will play letter/sound recognition and many more reading games interactive games. They will not be limited to just paper and pencil. As a teacher, one of my goals is to provide daily interactive materials for my students. I am also supposed to maintain a hands-on creative classroom. With the an Acer tablets, I am positive that hands-on learning with interactive materials will take place on a daily basis in my classroom. With the portability of a tablet, we can do so many things. My English Language Learners will have instant access to visual vocabulary. I will be able to use it as a resource in my class for children with Autism and unique learning styles. The convenience of a tablet allows children to stay at their desk or learning center and access the curriculum through technology!

There is power in technology.

We use it everyday in our lives. We would be very lost without it! Help my students get introduced to technology today so they can achieve greatness tomorrow! With this tablet, my students will be able to use technology more often. My students (and future students) and I appreciate your support. Technology motivates learning!
