Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can you imagine putting your name tag in the art center area and there is no Play-doh or paint? Well the truth is it would not be much of an art center without these important supplies! The art center is one of the favorite centers in the preschool classroom.
I teach preschool in a Chicago Public School.
It is comprised of two half-day blended classrooms. There are 20 students in each class that includes regular education and special education students. Our school is limited in funding for materials. We are considered low-income with 93% of our students receiving free/reduced lunch. Ten percent of our students are considered English Language Learners.
My Project
Our art center is a wonderful place for our students to explore their creativity and to learn. When children play with Play-doh and paint, they improve their fine motor skills, understand how to explore their creative side, and with materials like number and alphabet cutter sets, the children learn their numbers and letters. The art center is a very popular center because they are allowed to be themselves, there is no wrong or right way to do it (as long as you are not putting it in your mouth). The children are free to create and explore their artistic tendencies.
Your generous donation of Play-doh, Play-doh alphabet play set, hammers, rollers, and tempera paints will allow for my preschool students to create and explore their artistic side through the use of Play-doh and paint.
The students will also learn the letters and numbers with the cutter sets.
