My Students

Today's students are captivated with technology and more tech savvy than most of us ever thought about being. Much of the technology available to our class is outdated and there aren't enough of the up-to-date products to go around.

My students come from a very rural community in eastern Kentucky with over 75% of our population of approximately 580 K-5 students receiving free or reduced lunch services.

But don't let our location fool you, we text, we blog, we video! We are as tech savvy as they come and jump at the chance to incorporate technology into every aspect of the learning spectrum!

My Project

We are requesting a tablet computer to add a little life to our currently outdated technology classroom center. It is small, yet powerful, very portable, and most importantly designed to be kid-friendly. With this tablet computer, we will be able to surf the Internet, research information for projects, create dazzling presentations, and post on our classroom blog, not to mention practice and learn Math in an exciting and engaging manner; deserving of a classroom of the future.

This project is important for me because as a Math teacher, I see how easily students can become turned-off to Math, which greatly effects them in their future educational careers.

I want to make Math as fun and engaging as possible, while appealing to items, concepts, and tools that they like and can relate to. The answer? More and up-to-date technology resources for our classroom!
