My Students

It is said that students thrive in an organized environment. I am trying to help not only create a clean, organized environment for my students, but also teach them organization skills needed to help them be successful throughout their lives!

I have a class of 21 kindergarten and first grade students.

Out of the 21 kids, 15 of them are boys. Talk about hands on and active! They are a very active bunch of kids who love to learn and explore through organized, hands on activities. Having such a busy group of children has rejuvenated my inner youth!

My Project

All of the resources we are requesting will be used to store materials that we use on a daily basis. I have found that having a clean, organized classroom helps keep students calm and engaged - especially my special needs students. Having the storage bins in different colors will help the students easily identify what materials are used for the different subject areas throughout the day. Using storage bins, it is easier for the young students to not only clean up their materials when finished using them, but also return the bin to the designated shelf. Having storage materials that match, are color coded and have lids will greatly improve not only the look and organization of the classroom, but help to teach my young students how to clean and organize their own materials.

My active class will greatly benefit from a little organization.

Being able to better organize materials will help not only ease my stress, but the stress felt by my students. Having toys and materials fall off the shelf and spill is something we constantly encounter throughout the week. With these new storage bins (with lids), spills will be almost obsolete. With all of our materials in nice, neat, organized storage bins, we will be able to be less distracted by accidental spills.
