Let Us Shine - Music Students Bring Joy to Community

My students need an iPad and case in order for me to create projects that enhance learning on technology (keyboard lab).

My Students

My students love coming to music class. A typical day is ten classes in and out of my room. Games and excitement are how I roll because I never want a student not being involved.

My students are amazing.

I have around 400 students that vary in every way. They are fun and exciting to learn with and from. They come from a great variety of diversities in learning and ethnicity. Most of my students receive reduced and free lunch and school is the most stable thing in their worlds. Our school community works knowing this and strives to make each student's day successful, even if it is as simple as that student remembered that 'm' comes before 'n' in the alphabet! Of those 400 students 105 choose to miss a recess every week to be a part of our choir. This is an incredibly unique experience for my students and allows them to express themselves in a different way. The choir is in its fourth year and started out at 37 students.

My Project

Having an iPad will allow me to work with the technology in my classroom. I will be able to create lessons involving our 16 piano keyboard lab that will help them move forward. Also create games that will help them learn rhythms and notes in a way that is exciting to them. The iPad will allow me to create lessons involving other technology as well, such as song composition, that gets my students more involved. Whenever you can incorporate the newest technology into a lesson the students are more engaged and excited to take on the challenge.

If my students can go home and say, "In music I learned that Mr. Everybody lives on the first floor." (meaning that E is the first line of the treble clef) it is a successful day.

The donation will allow me to create enhancing and exciting units for my students. I will be able to take video of them so they can see how they are doing and allow more intimate conversations between the students and myself to happen.
