My students need a computer that we will all share for research and technology support in our classroom.

I am a teacher for special middle school (grades 6-8)students. Our school has 67.5% free and reduced meals, our county school system has been taken over by the state, budgets are low, and unemployment is high.

The one computer in my classroom is ten years old and as slow as Moses. My special students soon lose interest in waiting for programs to load. Sometimes we get right to where we need to be and the computer freezes so we have to start over.

A new computer will allow my students to take virtual tours of places in this nation that are presently out of their reach. They can tour the White House, the nation's capitol, their state capitol, visit New York City, and Los Angeles. As we try to keep current on world and national events, they will be able to study the devastation impact on the children of Haiti and Hurricane Katrina. My students will be able to explore career possibilities and requirements as well as employment prospects after graduation.

ALL my students will become computer savvy in learning how to navigate the Internet to obtain valuable information for school or personal use. One computer will help my kids learn technology skills needed for personal use and employment preparedness.
