Lego And Learn

My students need Lego materials for coordination, fine motor skills, imagination, social skills and as a motivational springboard for math and language arts.

My Students

Children live in a world of imagination. It is critical to unlock that imagination in the classroom while providing intrinsic motivation to learn. Lego bricks are the perfect tool and can be used as a springboard for countless creative lessons across the curriculum.

Since our inception, Discovery Charter School has been dedicated to educating the whole child by offering a rich dynamic educational program.

Discovery is an exciting alternative to traditional schools. Discovery Charter School is based on developmentally appropriate teaching methods that accommodate the whole child with respect to individual learning styles, developmental readiness, and rates of achievement. Multiple-age classrooms, collaborative teaching, a high level of parent participation, and community involvement greatly contribute to developing Discovery Charter School into a world class learning community. Discovery Charter School's innovative programs are designed to accommodate the diverse needs of all students, including those who are historically underachieving or academically disadvantaged, to challenge and engage students to master state academic content and to meet or exceed state achievement standards.

My Project

"If red bricks are worth 6, blue bricks are worth 3, and yellow bricks are 7, then what is your Lego pile worth? Oh, by the way, green bricks are worth 5 and must be subtracted from your total." It is a simple game with a thousand variations that my students can't wait to play. Mundane drill evaporates when Lego bricks are added to the mix. The motivation level of both student and teacher soars and so does math comprehension. Lego materials have long been known as the gateway to imagination and creativity, but teachers are now using them across the curriculum with outstanding results. They can be used to springboard writing, math, science, technology and consumer education. Imagination is the only limit. Lego-based books are highly motivational and encourage even the most reluctant readers. My students love to learn. They are creative and Lego materials will spark their imagination in so many ways. Please help me fan that spark into a wildfire that will burn bright for their future.

My students need Lego bricks, characters, bases and books in the classroom.

Please help fuel their imagination and thus their academic skills by helping to provide these motivational and highly versatile hands-on materials. My students' skills and academic successes can be built one Lego brick at a time. Please help them 'Lego' of fear and allow their natural creativity to soar as they 'Lego and Learn.'
