My Students

My students with Autism have a variety of challenges and learn skills in many ways. They learn best with hands on materials that help them to use problem solving skills. They are constantly working on their communication needs and I am introducing beginning academics to the class.

My students with Autism are wonderful.

They are very caring, loving individuals who do not judge. Most of my students do not speak and use communication devices to communicate their wants and needs. They have daily challenges that most do not and learn in different ways. They are constantly challenged by daily noises, surroundings and learning to adapt to their environment. Though it may take them longer to learn a skill, they have all made me very proud of all of their accomplishments!

My Project

My students with Autism have daily challenges with fine and gross motor skills. They learn best by hands on activities. Each student is unique and needs different activities at their learning level to learn. I always try to incorporate arts and crafts to let them express their creative side. My students are also learning basic academics that include: sitting in whole group, answering questions about a story, and learning letters and numbers.

My students have opened my eyes to find ways to help them adapt to their surroundings.

They have many skills that need to be tapped into so that they can prove to people they are capable of doing it when they are unable to tell you. I would do anything for my students to make their learning more fun and encouraging.
