Learning Can Be Fun with Technology!

My students need five iPads to increase and practice their own learning through discovery and research.

My Students

My students are second graders at a successful charter school in Philadelphia, PA. My students follow the school motto “Work Hard and Be Nice” every day. They are incredible students who are eager to learn every day despite struggles at home and outside of school they may face. Our school’s curriculum is thorough and the students come in every day with a smile on their face, ready to take it on. With the use of technology in our classroom, my students will be provided the opportunity to reinforce skills we have studied to make learning fun.

My second grade classroom is complete with twenty-three eager learners.

I would love to have my students move past the basics of learning and have the opportunity to retain what they learn in a fun way. My students love using technology for a variety of practices and learning opportunities. They would greatly benefit from having iPads right in our classroom at their fingertips.

My Project

With the use of 5 iPads in the classroom, my students will be able to strengthen skills we have learned in a fun way. Using apps like Book Creator, Mathmateer, and Lexia will enhance skills that we learn throughout the entire school year. My students are also very fortunate to be a part of the Classroom Champions program. Classroom Champions helps kids recognize their potential, set goals, and dream big with an Olympic athletes help! Olympic athletes teach my students life lessons that are not taught in the school’s curriculum. My students get to tweet with the Olympic athlete throughout the year about what they are learning! This can become difficult at times however, due to the lack of technology at our fingertips when we need it. With iPads in our classroom, students will be able to respond to the athletes throughout the day, independently.

I can see my students becoming so independent in the classroom, practicing their math facts, working on a group project researching facts, or tweeting an Olympic athlete!
