Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember going to either the school or public library, and popular books by your favorite author were not available? Having a Leap Into Literature Library in their own classroom would be a great addition to their Language Arts Program! Then, popular titles would be available on a daily basis.

Most of my well behaved students come from low income families.

We are officially a high poverty area elementary school. For the holidays, I gave each child a book for a present. Sadly, for some of the students, this is the only gift they received. Additionally, most of my pupils do not have library cards. Due to the size of my school, we only attend the library every other week. A Leap Into Literature Library would solve the problem of not having access to books by popular authors, titles, and series. I just know that my children would appreciate these new books that open new worlds to their imagination, while increasing reading comprehension levels.

My Project

The Leap Into Literature Library will enhance my students appreciation of books. Each child will be able to select an appropriate high interest book at his or her reading level. This will be possible because my project includes books from many grade levels. Then, each child will take a reading comprehension test on the selected title. Positive reinforcement will be given when a student passes the RC test. Should a child not pass, then we can adjust the level of comprehension from the Leap Into Literature Library. Finally, I hope to arrange a walking field trip to the local library so that each student may be issued a Public Library Card. To summarize, my students will learn the wonders of books, and become both more fluent and independent readers.

Donors, your donations to this project will make a difference by opening the door to the world of literature for my students.

Having a Leap Into Literature Library available on a daily basis will be a wonderful addition to our classroom. In advance, I thank you for your help and donations.
