My Students

Each year the look on the students' faces as they work on this project each year cause me to pause. They love working together, coming up with cool designs and ultimately flying their very own kites.

Our school is low income.

My class this year is engaged and eager to learn. They work hard and try their best. This is a project that we do toward the end of the year to encourage their participation and it rewards their hard work. It also promotes geometry in a "hands on" approach.

My Project

There is nothing more fun than flying a kite in the field with your buddies. This simple lesson includes geometry along with science concepts that we have learned during the year. The kites the students build go incredibly high and it is amazing to see them all in the air! Up up and away!

I always have a kite from the previous year hanging over my desk.

This is designed to motive the students throughout the year. They know about the 6th grade project and are eager to participate. Students work hard to reach their goals so they can build and fly their kite.
