Kindergarteners Need Technology to Have Access to Math

My students need 4 tablets to access our school wide math program.

My Students

My students are at-risk kindergarten students with limited exposure and access to technology. Our school has be given a grant for a wonderful computer math program but we have limited access to it due to the few computers we have. These tablets will give us the least expensive access.

Our school is very diverse.

Many of the students are learning English as a second language. All the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Almost all of the housing zoned for the school is weekly rentals and a few apartments. Our students are eager to learn but face great challenges.

My Project

The tablets that I am requesting will give my students access to the math content they need to learn to be successful in school. The math program these tablets will allow them to access is language free and our language learners experience great success with it. They are able to access the content without being slowed down until they learn english - they literally hit the ground running!

This project is so important to our children because they should have the same access to technology as their more affluent peers.

They need to have experience with technology for technology's sake just as much as for access to our math program. In kindergarten they are still learning to handle and use the equipment. Skill that many children in other environments have already mastered.
