This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Currently, my classroom has a listening center that is severely out-dated. Our audio players only use cassette tape and now only one works. All of my books and tapes are broken or lost though out the many years and many teachers that have had them. We use it anyway because it is what we have.

My Kindergarten class loves story time anyway they can get it, whether it is being read to or learning to read themselves!

and I try to find interesting ways to make reading fun. Listening center is something we do everyday during centers time to add to the many ways we get into reading. I have a class full of 26 brand new Kindergarteners who have let me know they are ready to become "big kids" and get on the path to learning to read! These are exciting times for them!

My Project

Each and everyday in my Kindergarten class, students visit my dilapidated old listening center that still uses cassette tapes. I want to them to be able to use technology closer to the times we live in, with books and listening materials that do more than just have you turn the page. I want my students to use this tool as a guide to help them learn to read, make reading fun and very, very hands on!

This donation would help my classroom rise with the times!

No more boxes of cassette tapes! No more just listening and turning the page when you hear the chime! My students will be able to interact in the listening center now. Not only will they listen to literature, but they will complete phonics tasks that will help them on the road to literacy.
