My students need to learn basic keyboarding and this software, "Type To Learn," is just what we've been looking for. This is my first year teaching media and this will help immensely

My Students

Are you still slow at typing on a keyboard? Do you have a few bad habits you wish you never picked up? I'd like to save my students that regret and teach them correct keyboarding skills, can you help us?

There are 750 students attending our school ranging in grade levels K-5.

These students vary in background and personality, but all tend to be excited when it's time to work on the computers located in our library. Our students enjoy learning in a variety of ways and I am excited to share with them correct keyboarding fundamentals so that they can master today's technology in preparation for the technologies they will one day create.

My Project

This is my first year teaching media, and as I have worked with my 750 students, they are not executing correct keyboarding skills. Teachers have been begging me to teach these skills, but I don't have clue where to start. I even had a student the other day say "Wow, you type fast. I wish I could do that." This software would be a great resource for my students in learning correct keyboarding habits before "survival" habits become permanent. This will help my students follow along with me, in future Internet research or typing of papers, at a more comfortable speed for all of us.

Students need explicit and specific instruction when it comes to keyboarding.

Without this foundation and mastery of the technologies we have today how will they function in a world where technology continues to improve and grow? So much of what we do now requires computer skills and the keyboard is the way we communicate to the computer. Thank you for your time and interest in helping improve today's students.
