The student leading this project is Michael. He is a ray of sunshine on a rainy day. He has worked so hard in our classroom and grown by leaps and bounds!
We all sat down as a group and brainstormed ideas of how to make our classroom better and our learning more productive. The students decided that having more technology in the classroom would not only make their learning more fun, but more realistic. Being in a world of technology is a reality they all are going to be around one day once they graduate and get jobs!
The students will learn how to count money, calculate change, and tell time. They will also learn basic reading skills and communication skills through the use of many great apps that can be purchased for free or cheaply on the iPads. Once the students have practiced these skills on the iPads they will then be prepared to go on visits to local community places like the grocery store, restaurant, and library to use these skills in real life situations.
In Their Own Words
We are trying to be better at reading and math. We want to be better at talking to other people. We need to learn how to answer people's questions and how to talk with them. We need to know how to count money so we can buy things at the store. We need to know how to tell time on a clock so we aren't late to work . We need to know how to count and add or subtract things. We need to know how to read important words that will keep us safe.
We are going to be leaders by talking to people in our school, home, and community about our project that we are trying to complete. We will go on our school morning and afternoon announcements and tell our peers about what we are doing.
This project will give us iPads to help us learn the things that we will need to be better at our jobs. We will be able to help people in our community if we are able to learn more.
