My Students

Because of the diverse learners in my classroom, the room is designed in rotations. This individualizes the lessons while maximizing independence for students who really need both those things in their school day.

I have 8 students, grades 3-5, with severe intellectual disabilities, primarily autism.

These students come from all over the district to our particular elementary school. The students are all very unique and have several different learning styles. We work as a team with related service providers, OT, PT and Speech, to maximize each students learning potential.

My Project

This iPad will be used to help my students maintain their current skills while working independently, help reach sensory needs, provide a visual schedule, used to facilitate communication across all settings. The iPad is such a diverse learning tool for all 8 of my diverse learners!

So many of my students are very motivated by technology.

They preform better on tasks while technology is involved. We also have a lot of sensory needs in our classroom. The iPad will provide different sensory activities, such as music and visual stimulation, to help reach each student's sensory diet needs. They will also be able to work more independent on tasks throughout the school day with this iPad, including communication!
