My Students

Technology is the key to engaging and keeping students interested in the classroom. An iPad2 would truly enhance ELA and Math because it would help create attractive lessons for my students.

My students are in the eighth grade, and attend a special education program.

Most of the twelve students in my class come from less than ideal situations, and often come to school looking for structure and guidance. Even though these kids have dealt with life changing events, they still attend school wanting to succeed. However, this is a true challenge for them, and therefore my students need constant motivation and engagement.

My Project

The addition of an Apple iPad 2 would go a long way for my classroom. In regards to Math, it would certainly assist in an important lesson involving Finance. A good portion of the New York State Math Test deals with many financial terms including sale, tax, and mark up. Obviously, an iPad2 would create attractive and interactive math lessons for my students. Additionally, for ELA, the iPad would be multifunctional. It would enhance my growing literacy station, and allow students to read digital books. The Apple bookstore has the majority of books I use for guided reading, and the students use for their "just right books." Lastly, it would help my students with researching for different writing assignments and exit projects. An iPad2 would serve as a piece of motivation and engagement in my classroom.

My lessons with an iPad2 would invite students to learn financial Math and ELA. Finally, it would help transform my classroom into an attractive learning environment.
