Collecting dust, filling lockers, and weighing down backpacks--these are the uses for most textbooks these days. They're boring. They aren't used. So it's time to change that. Let's make text exciting! Interactive! Student-created! A MacBook will make all this possible!
We are a rural school, with little money and little resources, but with amazing, talented students.
Despite our economic circumstances, we push our students to get excited about learning by being creative with the delivery of our content. Our school strives to provide what it can to help motivate these students to learn. Now, we have a set of iPads, but lack the resources to create content for them. There are so many amazing things our students would be able to do if we had adequate support.
My Project
With a MacBook, we can do many exciting things! Most importantly, I can use iBooks Author to create interactive textbooks for students to access on the iPads, including quizzes, videos, links, etc. to help students truly immerse themselves in the content. I can put copies of books, stories, notes, presentations and so much more at their fingertips. Not only can I create these books, but so can my students. They can easily create content for others to learn from. Once we have mastered this in my classroom, we can help other teachers and students also begin creating exciting, interactive content for their own classrooms.
Additionally, my yearbook students will be able to utilize art software available on the Mac to create dynamic books. They've been asking for a Mac for several years now and this would be the answer to their requests!
Your donations will help assist my students to become engrossed in the texts we use in class.
I will be able to teach them, engage them, assess them, and reward them all with the resources available on a MacBook. My students can push themselves to create projects on the Mac that weren't available with our aging PCs. Now they will be motivated, excited, and engaged in learning with mastering technology skills.
