My Students

I have an iPad, do you!? It seems like most households nowadays have some form of a tablet, but my students do not. Most of their families do not have the means to have their own iPad at home and are missing out on all of the enriching experiences that come with cutting-edge technology.

My students are wonderful.

They are some of the hardest workers I have ever met and are so grateful for what they have and the opportunities that are presented to them through their school. The school that my fourth graders attend is a low-income school of almost 500 students, grades kindergarten through fifth, where over half of the student population receives free-and-reduced meals. As you can imagine, this means that they don't always have the same opportunities as you may have had growing up.

My Project

I received an iPad as a Christmas gift from my family last year. After a few weeks I realized the immense potential that comes with such an amazing piece of technology such as the iPad and decided to start using it in my classroom and with my students. I first began using the iPad as an incentive for positive behavior management and ended the year by having students help me upload our entire classroom library onto an iPad app. If you choose to donate to my request of an iPad and protective case, my students will have even more opportunities this year to utilize the immense potential and enriching practice provided in the form of educational apps.

This project is important because it will provide my students with an opportunity that they wouldn't normally have otherwise.

An iPad will be highly motivating for each and every student and will give them the incentive to work harder and learn more in the long run. I hope you will consider contributing to our project, and in the end making an immense impact in my classroom and the lives of my wonderful students.
