My Students

Students often are expected to sit and listen while a teacher instructs, making the lesson not so engaging. The BrightLink Solo would help get students up and engaged in what is being taught.

My students are currently 5th graders and are very energetic.

We are a public school that has been nominated and received many awards for being a high performing school. Overall as a school we serve 2nd through 5th grade and work to meet the needs of all students. We engage in incorporating 21 Century Skills and Global Awareness.

My Project

The Epson BrightLink Solo would be used in conjunction with the Document Camera and with the ceiling mounted projectors that will be installed this summer, to add interactive capabilities. This would allow both teacher and student(s) to interact with content. The BrightLink Solo also provides for dual pen opportunities; which would allow more than one student to annotate w/ the lesson as a time. The Solo would work very much like a Smartboard but with a more universal approach due to the fact that is compatible with any projector and smooth surface. The Solo works with existing software, like Notebook. The Solo also comes with TeamBoard Draw which gives users the ability to import, annotate, export PDFs, record, reopen, re-edit, and save notes. Students will become more interactive w/ lessons.

Being a teacher that had access to a Smartboard, I saw first hand the difference it made in student interest and attention during a lesson.

This year I did not have the option to continue having a Smartboard and feel I have resorted back to "Old Style" ways of teaching and have seen a decrease in attention during lessons. I want to bring life and engagement back into my classroom. This project would have such a positive impact on student learning.
