Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 18 kindergarten students at a Title I school. Over 90% of our student population qualifies for free and reduced lunch. We are a high-needs school in a state that has drastically reduced the education budget.

My students don't just love technology, they thrive on it.

I have been fortunate enough through other Donors Choose projects to have Tag reading systems, a video camera and an iPad to use with my class. We only have 4 student computers and we only just got dry erase boards 2 years ago.

My Project

Every teacher wishes for an interactive whiteboard. There are many different brands to choose from. The Mimio is the most cost effective and reasonable brand that I have found. The device simply connects to the whiteboard that I already have. The only other components needed are a projector and a computer, both of which I already have. A device as simple as the Mimio can change my boring whiteboard into an interactive, fun and exciting tool to teach my students reading, math, science and social studies!

In this day and age our children need every opportunity to excel and experience the best in technology.
