Inspire a Lifetime of Learning with a Netbook

My students need one Acer netbook to link them into the world of technology.

Inspiring learning in a high poverty area is not always easy. Our school community consists of many students who do not have a computer at home and are learning English as a Second Language (ESL). For students with limited technology and English language exposure, just using a computer with teacher instruction helps maintain attention and creates a lifetime interest in learning through exciting activities. The addition of a netbook to our one-computer classroom will help facilitate learning and would allow my students to reach their fullest educational potential. A netbook would be useful in providing a student workstation for independent work, group projects, and peer tutoring. Students' learning potential would greatly increase with the addition of a netbook to use as a student center. With limited home computer access, an additional center in my classroom would provide my students more access to learning tools above and beyond the typical daily teacher instruction. The netbook center would also provide a better means to integrate different subject areas. By providing my students with a netbook, you will be a valuable contributor to my students' lifetime of learning. My higher level students will be launched to new potentials, while my lower level students will begin to close learning gaps that may have been challenging them.
