Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I was given the go-ahead to promote play in my kindergarten classroom. My students are a loving bunch who would tremendously benefit from positive social interactions through play.

I teach in an urban school where the majority of my students come from low income families.

Our elementary school is a positive reward school which is making strives to develop the whole child. The group that I have this year is very loving and they yearn for learning positives through play.

My Project

I was given the go-ahead to implement meaningful play into my classroom. Children, in early childhood, need to use their imaginations and interact positively with their peers. By integrating puppets with a character-building role, the students can learn how to conquer real life situations. The food can be used in a role playing store, where students can learn patience, sharing, and helping. I also feel the mirror is a must have, so that the students can see themselves smiling and with their friends. I almost deleted that item, but feel it is important to their self esteem! For my students who love to build, they will learn to share and take turns with the gear sets. I am sure a few science lessons will also be learned in the process. The Play Doh is also for my active leaner. Just feeling the Play Doh squish between their fingers relaxes them and creates conversation and pretend play!

I think that each and every item that I chose will benefit a classroom of playful learners!

I will see positive relationships being built. I will see precedents being set and the grounds being laid for a lifetime of positive behavior. Please encourage my urban population to become all that they can be!
