Can you imagine doing your job every day with a tape recorder and typewriter? That's the age of our current listening center. There is an entire library of resources my students can access if I can get newer tools in their hands.
We are a growing school in a small farming community in Indiana that is racing to keep up with the changing technology around us.
Our students LOVE technology are are so motivated to learn with it. They light up at each opportunity to try something new. Your support will directly impact 24 third graders this year and countless others for years to come.
My Project
I'm requesting 2 ipods, 2 splitters, and 10 headphones to create a new listening center. This opens the door to so many ideas in books and other texts that are above a student's reading level. Oftentimes my third graders interest levels are far higher than their reading levels. Allowing them to listen in and follow along with texts is so important. It sparks their desire to know more and encourages their reading development so that they can read on their own.
Our current listening center is an old cassette player with worn our tapes and 2 sets of headphones.
I have access to so many iTunes resources already that cannot be played on our old system, and even when we can use it only 2 children can benefit from it at a time. Please consider helping us step into the modern technology age. We appreciate it so much!
