This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students prefer hands on experience and they will likely have a better understanding of the curriculum. Students will also gain regents lab hours which they will also spark interest in learning. Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow. - Anthony J. D'Angelo.

The trip could also spark the interest of all attending students in STEM.

This is especially important for students in the lower grades who are sometimes deprived of exposure to meaningful science. In fact, they are sometimes deprived until they reach middle or high school where too often frustration replaces interest. Programs like this one have the potential to ignite their interest. However, funding is required.

My Project

This trip will provide a practical review of free fall and terminal velocity, and learn for other planned wind tunnel demonstrations. Since our labs are now embedded in lecture, unlike other NYS School Districts where lab periods are separate, this trip would go a long way towards fulfillment of the Regents Physics lab requirement.

Students still have to accumulate 1200 minutes of lab time to qualify for the regents in June.

As an incentive to them as well as a way to gain required lab time, the iFLY program could add at least 4 periods, 188 minutes to required lab time.
