Mrs. Jones from Beverly Hills MI is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an iPad allowing them access to the general education curriculum through various accommodations especially reading text and recording verbal responses.

Imagine being in a seventh grade classroom trying to read and write seventh grade text, while functioning with a learning disability allowing you to read and write at a second grade level? The frustration!
My seventh grade students are hard working and dedicated to their learning even with significant learning disabilities in the areas of basic reading, reading fluency, reading comprehension, math calculation, and math reasoning.
The only way they will be successful in the general education curriculum and have a chance at a high school diploma is through the use of technology.
Using technology, like the iPad, in the classroom will open a whole new world to my students. We will be exploring more applications to assist with reading, writing, and math. My students need technology to read grade level text aloud in the classroom and have assessments read aloud on test days. Applications like italk and dragon speak will be able to record their verbal responses for those who do not have the dexterity to use a pencil The iPad will be able to take pictures of notes and study guides and record lectures which can be emailed home or uploaded to my teacher website for all students to benefit. This iPad is a critical for my students to access the general education curriculum, and have the opportunity to learn like their seventh grade peers.
For the majority of my seventh graders, high school graduation is questionable.
Without interventions and accommodations, they will not have a chance. This iPad is their lifeline to their future!
