My Students

Help us build a sense of global responsibility and team work through communication of weather data. Help us help researchers review our data and make predictions about global warming. Think of the fun we will have collecting data from our own weather station while learning the science curriculum.

Our school provides a quality education in a safe and caring environment for students at risk, in grades K-12.

Students are sent here from their home based school because of learning disabilities or behavior problems or they are students performing below grade level expectations. We are a Title 1 School with 90% of the students receiving school lunch assistance and coming from low socioeconomic populations.

My Project

Imagine, our own weather station at our school. We are requesting a rain gauge to measure precipitation and a psychrometer to measure relative humidity and temperature. We will also be studying clouds and reporting cloud cover by using a laminated cloud poster to identify types of clouds. The Globe protocol is very specific and it will require us to use our math skills as well as science. Project based learning, here we come!

This project will allow my students to participate in a project that will inspire global comradery, using weather as an intervention. It is a project that might just inspire these "kids at risk" to stay in school.
