My Students

“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.” Plato Students need a chance to learn and play at the same time. With the plethora of games and technology available, it is irresponsible not to include it into a modern classroom.

My students come from a very diverse background.

Our school is situated so that it pulls students from rural, urban and suburban areas. Also, we have a very large population of ELL and Special Education students. Our students are very aware of the difficulties they face. If given the chance to shine, students will more than rise to the occasion.

My Project

I am requesting the computers and peripherals so that I am better equipped to provide my students with a 21st century education. I intend to purchase and install many different history based games that allow for an enriched experience while still filling in the gaps in content they need covered. One game in particular I will use is Minecraft. Minecraft allows students to create and maintain virtual worlds. We will use Minecraft to create many different situations from American history.

Students need to know that learning can be fun.

With these materials my students will be able to both learn and enjoy themselves at the same time. They will also be gaining valuable skills hat they can apply to computer use for the rest of their lives.
