What did you love to read as a child? My students beg for graphic novels, interesting facts, and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Can you help me put these books in their hands?
I teach in an urban school.
We have classrooms full of amazing students and a community full of supportive parents. Unfortunately, books are a luxury to many of our families. We are in a high-poverty, multicultural community and our school is the heart. Most of my students love to read, the problem is many of the books they want to read have a long waiting list in the library. Often, by the time they get the books the covers are falling off because they have been loved so much. Every year, my students have different interests and this year it is facts, graphic novels, and The Diary of the Wimpy Kid.
My Project
The books I am requesting are all high interest texts for fifth graders. The books will be available in my classroom for students to check out, take home, and read for pleasure. These books will help my students continue to learn and grow as students, while enjoying one of life's greatest activities, READING!
I can't provide everything my students need.
Help from donors like you makes my classroom a magical place to learn. Please help me provide these amazing books for my fifth graders.
