This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are trying to play badminton at our school, but we have the wrong type of net and paddles. The students are having fun and are starting to pick up the technique but with the wrong equipment, it is very difficult.

I'm coaching in an area that is VERY "soccer-centric." But, my students are always open to new sports whenever I've presented them.

The great thing about badminton is that it is great for boys and girls and the students can transfer their skills to their local parks and backyards.

My Project

I am requesting 1 Badminton kit, 3 Badminton nets, and 2 shuttlecocks to play badminton. If I'm able to acquire this equipment, I'll be able to expose my students to a sport that is actually one of the most popular sports in other parts of the world and is really a lot of fun. The students will learn the basics of a "paddle/racket" sport that will transfer to both tennis and ping pong.

The materials I'm requesting will be especially helpful for students who haven't found their "niche" in P.E.

Badminton is so user friendly for students of all ability levels and ages.
