My students need an iPad mini to enhance our learning experience. Spring and Earth Day are right around the corner, and we want to be able to research the environment!
I am a first year 2nd grade teacher and I am trying to update my classroom to be more "student" friendly! I have recently moved down to this "non-state testing" grade level, and I am trying to equip my classroom with more tools to be the best teacher I can possibly be! My students deserve the BEST!
I teach in the same rural school district I went to school in and my children all graduated from the same school district.
My life is invested in this small rural East Texas community where over 65% of my students are socioeconomically disadvantaged. I love them and want to do everything I can to help them be the best that they can be! I teach a class of 23 second grade students in a high poverty school. The students in my class face many challenges both at home and in school. It is often difficult to motivate children to learn. Using the iPad mini to research, plan and share our finds about Earth Day, recycling and our environment will make learning more exciting for students.
My Project
My desire is to have an iPad available to put into the hands of ALL my students. I am trying to slowly get resources to accomplish this goal! With the iPad mini, they could listen to stories, download apps, and search for projects and YouTube videos to study and share with our class. I LOVE to sing and act out in my class. We sing all the time. My students can sing and record their OWN songs! They can research and write plays to share with other students as we study and learn about our environment! We may even become famous on YouTube! The list goes on and on. I hope all of my 2nd grade students will spend a portion of their school day enjoying and learning on the iPad Mini. This generation of children NEEDS this educational support in order to learn in the best way possible.
Our project is important because with your help we can learn about the environment in our classroom and share what we learn.
The students of this day and time thrive in learning with the support of technology and with the 23-1 ratio in my classroom, it leaves me feeling like I am stretched "way too thin"! With these tools, I hope to give my students an edge up on ignorance. Please help make this possible for my classroom FULL of 2nd graders!
