My students need this incline mat for a balance and coordination unit. I do this program for grades 1-3. They do tumbling and forward rolls and cartwheels as part of this regime. This mat would be part of an obstacle course that teaches balance, coordination and agility. The kids love it.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I like to make learning fun. Our school is largely comprised of low income families, so for most of the children, my physical education class is their only opportunity for exercise using equipment. In addition to teaching them sports, I feel it is important for the students to understand how their bodies work, and how they can control their bodies.
At the end of the school year, I would like my students to have improved balance, coordination, and body awareness. I encourage the students to understand how the different parts of their bodies work together in day to day movements and activities.
Our student population is very diverse, from many ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
But they all love to move. That's where I come in. I like to provide a variety of activities to help them develop gross motor and fine motor skills. I also incorporate games and activities from a variety of countries to get the students excited and involved and help them expand their horizons.
My Project
With this incline mat, I will be able to create a more diverse assortment of obstacles to include in my obstacle course. Through the course they need to jump, tumble, weave, run, crawl, coordinate steps and use all parts of their bodies. With the wedge I'll be able to include movements that require them to go up and down inclines.
This wedge will be an integral part of the obstacle course I will be implementing for my first through third grade students.
They will be able to improve their balance, coordination, agility and flexibility. Since they have so much fun with the obstable course, they will discover the joy of movement and exercise.
