Help Students Start School With Basic Supplies!

My students need BASIC SUPPLIES to start the school year off right. Pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, intro pencils, paper, and notebooks are what we need to succeed!

My Students

My students dream BIG! They inspire me everyday to help them achieve their unique dreams and goals. Without basic school supplies, we find challenges that you can help us overcome!

I teach three ultra-inspiring 7th grade classes in what is considered a 'economically-disadvantaged' middle school.

Extra money is not something that my students and their parents/guardians regularly have, if ever. I keep aware of this, and make my school supply list very short and sweet for my kids, knowing that inevitably I will end up purchasing notebooks, pencils, erasers and such out of my own pocket to help out some students. I cannot "require" my students to continually purchase additional supplies as they dwindle, dull, break, and become misplaced - as middle school students can sometimes misplace things! This is the challenge I face in helping students develop senses of organization, accountability, and clear presentation skills - all while teaching mathematics through artistic exploration.

My Project

My middle school students will create high school portfolios that they will bring with them on interviews that will determine their future successes. Once complete with the mathematical part of their portfolio, my artistic students love to design cover pages for them, incorporating media and design elements by which they are inspired. With a consistent supply of colored pencils, pencils, sharpeners, and erasers my students will create artistic masterpieces (while learning math!) that will supplement their high school applications, allowing them to stand out from the crowd.

When my students have consistent access to basic supplies their outlook will be positively affected in that they will be empowered to confidently create portfolio pieces that will display their art and math prowess.

They will be able to express their unique selves artistically and show their classmates examples of their hard work and dedication.
