My Students

Why do my students need your help? They are eager authors who are without a computer lab. My students want to publish their writing in a word processed format, or on our classroom blog, but have no way to save their writing throughout the writing process. Please solve this problem!

Who are my students?

They are 28 fourth graders who love to learn. What are they like? They are sweet, kind, compassionate, silly, and eager to write. What kind of school do they attend? They attend the oldest school in the district (over 120 years old!) that is busting at the seams with around 500 students. Due to the older building, there are challenges that are present which have not allowed us to have a school computer lab. Instead, we have 4 computers in our classroom and 1 cart of 30 laptops that are shared among the 500 students in the school. Our time using the laptops and our classroom computers is precious and we've struggled with finding a way to save our writing while we're in the writing process.

My Project

The 28 2Gb flash drives and lanyards that we are hoping for would make the writing process that much smoother and inevitably much easier for my students to publish their work. If our students are provided with the flash drives they would each have their own "special place" to save their drafts of writing. It would also ensure that I am able to provide them with feedback more often. Instead of waiting for the final product, I would be able to give my students positive feedback throughout the process by utilizing the flash drives, which would ultimately encourage the students to write all the more! Students feel pride when they become published authors, and your donation would help them to believe in themselves and their creativity.

My project is so important because it would solve a major problem that is present in my classroom.

We've tried utilizing online storage websites, however they are too complicated for my fourth graders to access and to provide feedback on a consistent basis. Your donation would make such a difference because it would help instill an urgency to write and a love for writing that will help all of my students become successful writers and scholars. You have a chance to change 28 students' lives!
