Just think how much success our students could achieve in college if they enter with college credits already complete! Help my AP Psychology students prepare for, and pass, the AP Psychology exam, which will give them college credit, and help set them up for success.
I am excited to announce that we will be offering AP Psychology for the first time at our school!
As part of the city-wide initiative to increase Advanced Placement offerings, we are offering new and exciting AP courses to help prepare our high-achieving 11th and 12th graders for the demands of college. Additionally, we will prepare students to pass the AP exam in order to obtain college credits before even graduating high school.
My Project
With this new adventure, we will also need new materials. As a 99% free and reduced price lunch school, students struggle to make it to school on a daily basis, let alone to come with basic materials. I provide the majority of students with their notebooks, pencils, and any other materials they may need to be successful. With this project, I am requesting a class set of AP Psychology flashcards and two test prep books to use as classroom reference guides. The AP Psychology flashcards will be used throughout the year to give students the opportunity to silently quiz themselves, and at other times, quiz each other, over the new and complex vocabulary of AP Psychology.
With only 38% of our students graduating on-time, we want to make sure we are offering great support to those students who arrive to Senior year on-time and in pursuit of college preparatory classes.
Completing AP classes in high school will help motivate more students to consider college as an option, as well as ensure that if they do attend college that they are prepared with basic note-taking and study skills that AP classes foster and develop.
