My students need a storage cabinet and storage bins to organize their materials and increase time spent learning instead of wasting time searching for materials.
Organization is the key to success. If my students have their materials available and viewable, gathering materials for instructional time or center time would be less hectic and frustrating. Students will have the opportunity to become independent learners, taking charge of their environment.
I am a teacher of students with learning differences in Grades K through 5.
My school serves students from a rural area, of our population, 80% qualify for free or reduce lunch. My young learners are eager to learn and willing to do the work necessary to help them succeed in their education endeavors. Special tools and materials help to make their day in the classroom more eventful and meaningful. Many of my students have not had the opportunity to enjoy the feeling of success in their academic endeavors. I have never met a child who did not want to succeed. They want to perform as well as their peers. I want them to have the skills and the confidence to be involved in class projects and assignments and to have their work posted on the "WOW" wall.
My Project
We need a storage unit and baskets to store and display our books and center materials. Storage units will help to keep the materials and books in good shape for our future learners. We have to take care of our materials due to limited funds for replacement. Storage bins will give the students the opportunity to organize and maintain the material and books, working towards becoming independent learners. I want my students to be independent learners and storage bins will decrease time searching for materials and increase learning time.
The impact this project will have on my students is as important as their ability to achieve independence in their academic endeavors.
